Grape picking
Last month we went to a vineyard.
My sons picked some grapes. My sons enjoyed it. And we barbecued under grape arbor.

The vineyard looks very pretty. It looks like a nice place to visit. I am surprised that you could have a grill in a vineyard! Is it a place especially for visitors?

There are pumpkin farms and apple orchards here in Michigan where people can visit for fun. The farms or orchards have interesting things to do. The fun activities are not part of the real work of the farm or orchard.

Parents and kids can ride in a wagon pulled by a farm tractor to tour the farm or orchard. Children can carve a pumpkin (jack-o' lantern). Or the families can eat cinnamon doughnuts and drink apple cider.

The farms sell corn, soybeans, and other produce. The orchards sell apples and cider. But the family activities add to their income.

My husband tells me that I talk and write too much. If you think I write too much, then let me know. I will restrain myself!

Tnak you Tess.
Please don't retrain yourself. I feel happy to give your comments.

This vineyard had grill. We could had lunch with wine in the vineyard. My husband wanted to drink in this small trip. So we didn't use our car. His sister drove her car.

Your country is so big. And I think Your country has lot of beautifl nurture.
If you have time, you tell me about your country.

ok. I will not try to restrain myself. I'm glad that you are happy to read my comments.

Does Japan have many vineyards? It surprises me! But I am surprised that Michigan has vineyards. I think wines from California, France, Spain and Australia are very nice. The wine from Michigan might be nice, but mostly it is too sweet! I don't think about Japanese wine unless it is mirin. Most mirin sold here is not really wine, but I found some very nice mirin one time. It was expensive, and tasted like dry sherry, but not quite.

Your country has many beautiful natural or historical places that I would love to see.

The U.S. is very big and I have only travelled to a few places. San Francisco, Seatle, Mammoth Caves, St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Montana, Wisconsin, Florida... And Canada: Vancouver, lots of places in Ontario, Toronto...

I'm happy to hear that your sister-in-law drove because your husband wanted to drink some wine. My mother was badly injured by a person who had been drinking. My parents were only going to a shopping center and the man destroyed their car and she was very badly injured. People who drink and drive are bad.

Tess,
I think there are two types of mirin. Non alcohol and alcohl.
I use hon-mirin.(alcohl)
When I make nimono, I use sake too.

Some places are famous of vineyard in Japan. And we eat grapes. When I was kid, grapes had seeds. But now thare are seedless grapes.

In Japan, some people drink and they have accidents. It is so bad.

Oh, I bought some mirin and the clerk asked for my ID (identification card) because it was wine with alcohol. You are right!

We get grapes with seeds and without seeds, too.

It is not only in Japan that people who drink alcohol get into car accidents. My mother and father were hit by a car driven by a man who had been drinking. It was maybe 15 years ago; I think that was when her health began to decline. It was very bad.

Tess,
When you buy mirin, you need ID.
In Japan we don't need ID card.

But if we have cannabis, we have to go jail. A famous Russian sumo wrestler who had cannabils in Japan, so he was fired as sumo wrestler.
