My uncle's persimmons (Fuyu Kaki) in his garden
My uncle who lives in Nara sent me this photograph.
He was surprised you knew about "Fuyu Kaki".
Crows like ripe persimmons. My uncle takes persimmons and crows pick persimmons. They are competing for taking persimmons now.

We had a cherry tree in our yard. When it bloomed in the spring, orioles would come for the flower nectar. They are pretty and colorful birds. When the cherries got red, the bluejays and crows would take bites from the ripe fruit. I could pick enough cherries to make pie.
The tree was very old, and one year it did not survive the winter. Now I use the wood on my grill outside in the summer.
I can buy fuyu for only a very short time. They are grown in the U.S. I would like to have a tree, but it is too cold in Michigan. We had snow already but it is now melted.
Those crates of persimmons look gorgeous!

Tess,
I am late, I'm sorry.
My mother's house has some persimmon trees.
When I was young, I had to eat a lot of persimmons. (When I was young, I didn't like persimmons...) But after my father passed away, tress has any persimmons. So this year I bought persimmons in a shop.
This fruit grows on the southern parts of Hungary, in isolated and warm valleys near Lake Balaton.
I have tasted it once and well, I'd choose a 'normal' apple anytime over khaki.
:)
It is very interesting to see fruits that grow in other countries. Keep us informed about interesting fruits and veggies of your country, Lucy, I like when you talk about food.
SzélsőFa,
