The Star Festival
Today is The Star Festival. Unfortunately, it won't be nice day tonight. We can't see The Milky Way from Tokyo. Anyway, it is too bright to find stars in Tokyo. Can you see stars in your town?
We write wishes on Tanzaku which is small pieces of paper. And we hang up Tanzaku on bamboo.
My older son wrote wishes instead of my younger son.
*I want toys.
*I want to be able to run fast.

Hi Lucy,
Thanks for dropping by my blog, and Cazzie's too.
Your English is really good, much better than my Japanese.
I love the number of festivals there are in Japan, and it is all about family and harmony. Unlike the few festivals we have here which is all about someone else making money.
I'm going to add you to my blog roll now.

Rebecca,

LanternLight. But I didn't have any chance to comment your blog.
See you!!
Hi Lucy, I found your blog through Cazzi's blog.
You have a great blog! I love to learn about new cultures and meet new people. I will be visiting often. Have a great day!
Hello, Lucy. You have a very interesting blog. I like to understand other peoples' cultures and traditions.
Tokyo must be a very lively place. I live in a very small town in the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas.
Good luck with your English.
Lucy,
Reading about Tanabata here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanabata
Does that mean you've floated the bamboo in the river?
Hello Lucy, thanks for the lovely story there. It is so nice to see the different celebrations in each person's blog that is special to their culture.
Yes, we can see the stars clearly from a hill close by to our house. Back in the 1980's when Hayley's Comet was gracing the skies above us..we were able to see it very very clearly from this hill. Many photographers came to that spot and astronomers too.
Jay,
Thank you for visiting my blog. I'm glad to see you. Yesterday, I didn't know your blog. But today I know. It is funny.
Betty,
Thank you for comments. Maybe You live in a beautiful town. You are lucky.
LanternLight,
No, we just decorate the bamboo. But the other region in Japan, they
might float the bamboo.
You changed you picture!!! It is cool!!
Cazzie,
Thank you for comming again!
You saw "Hayley's Comet"!! Wow, you live in a nice town. Tokyo is not good to se stars. But we climbed Japanese Alps mountains, we could see milky way and a lot of shooting stars.
It's so interesting that over there in Japan, there are so many festivals and occasions to celebrate. We here, used to have our wishes spread by the wind.
I took part in a celebration where everyone wrote his/her wishes on a small ripping of clothes and tie it to an arrow. Then an archer would shoot it to the air.
