I went to Hokkaido with my younger son. It was a nice trip. If you come over to Japan, You should visit Hokkaido . Foods are very nice. Sashimi, vegetable, ice, cheese and beer etc.

One-day trip

My younger son took on-day trip with his grandfather last month. They went to Aomori. I think it was far from Tokyo and it was very tough trip. But they could arrived at Aomori for three hours and thirty minuets. And they ate SUSHI in Aomori! My younger son likes SUSHI.

His grandfather got special one day tickets which can allow unlimited travel along Tohoku Shinkansen with 10000 yen for an adults.

Pool
My younger son and I went to a pool near my house. It was hot day. Recently it is very hot and humid in Japan. But we don't try to use air conditioner as possible. We save electricity. So we went to the pool. My younger son enjoyed to swim in the pool.

My computer was broken
Today, I tried to write something in English on my blog. But my PC was not working. Yesterday was OK. Maybe I have to install windows XP again. I wonder I get new PC.
Now my husband installed Linux in my PC. Linux is better than windows OS.
But my picture files and office files can't use in Linux. And I can't use Kanji now.
Actually when I write blog in English, I use sometimes translation soft.

I want to go somewhere.
Golden Week is coming soon in Japan.
Golden Week refers to the period from April 29th to May 5th when there are four national holidays. For me it is until May 8th. But my sons have schools for two days, When my older son was young, we used to go on the trip. Now my older son has to study hard and he is very busy.
But we wonder to go one day trip.

Natto
We eat Natto with rice.
Have you ever eaten Natto. Natto is Japanese traditional food. Maybe you don’t want eat Natto. Because it has not good smell for you. You don’t like that smell. Some Japanese can’t eat it. Foreigners who live in Japan long years don’t like it.
By the way, after the earthquake, it was difficult to get Natt. Because factory which made package of Natto, damaged by earthquake. Now I get Natto easily.
I have ever visited Australia three times. Then I had breakfasts in hotels. Always
I tried to eat Vegemite. So I cold’nt eat it. And I came back to Japan with vegemites which I left. Because I think I tried to eat it again in Japan. Always Vegemites were kept in refrigerate long years.

Before we eat natto, we sti Natto with soy sauce and mustard.

Spring is coming in Japan

Recently I see foreigner less than before earthquake in our town. They might come back to their country. I think Kanto region is safe from radiation leakage. (My town is in Kanto region.) And Kansai rejoin did not suffer any direct damage from the earthquakes, but many tourist spots have been hit by harmful rumors. I think Kansai region is very safe. Also Japanese food is OK. Because I eat them everyday!

Last year, we went to Tokyo Disneyland for watching Captain Eo. We enjoyed this atraction. After the earthquake , Tokyo Disneyland is closed. We shouldn't use a lot of electricity. But if people don't use money, the economy is not going well in Japan. Anyway, I hope the nuclear will be better.

Afterquake After the earthquake, every day there are afterquake. They are not strong. It is too weak to feel them. But my younger son's lovely supper man is swinging. STOP PANIC BUYING
Share gas and food for victims.

Cup noodles, rice, bread were gone. Where were them in our town?
People who untouched by the earthquake and tsunami, stoked food. So I was lazy, I didn’t buy a lot of food last Sunday. And I have job, I don’t have time to buy any stoking food. and supermarkets close after my job this week.
Japan’s Government asked people to refrain from buying items you don't really need. But nuclear crisis worries us.
Don’ worry!
We are OK. Because we can buy food (meat and vegetable, McDonald's buggers, coke and beer) without rice and bread.
And I bought some bread in a bakery this morning. Of course our kids eat enough food everyday.

Sentokun
This is a Heijo-kyo's character called Sentokun. I think it is a strange character. He is a boy with two deer horns.
We say he is kimokawaii. kimokawaii consists of two Japanese words 'Kimoi' and 'kawaii'.
It means ugly and cute. You think why he has two deer horns.
There are a lot of deer in Nara park.

Plus, you shouldn't use kimokawaii to people. Especially the young ladies.

Now There are a lot of events for the 1300th Anniversary of Nara Heijo-kyo Capital. If you come over to Japan, you should go to Nara prefecture. And it is nice season on May.
June is rainy season. Also summer season is very humid in Japan.

Actually If you have free days of weekdays, I will go to trip Nara. Maybe it is very crowded on holidays.

A old kitchen sieve
My mother gave me a lot of cookers and dishes, when I got married. But they are 14 years old.
Recently some staff was broken. I can't sieve some small food on this kitchen sieve.

After 14 years, appliances are old. And I am old...

I am legend
Last Sunday, my sons and my husband watched a movie called "I am legend". Actually I don't like to watch scary movies. Really really I don't like them. But my sons watch it on TV. I have no choice . And I recognized this story long years ago.
When I was very young, I watched a movie with mother and grandmother on TV in my house.
It was very scary movies. After that I couldn't go bathroom by myself. And I couldn't sleep.
My grandmother asked me "Are you scared?" I and my mother said "NO".

Maybe that movie might be "The Omega Man".

This is a entrance examination of a high school. First, I didn't know "principal". Ant I was confused of writing 50 words.
I couldn't write a answerer. I was very depressed of it. I am learning English long years.

My older son is the second year of junior high school now. Next year he has to have entrance examines. If he can do this examine easily, I will be proud of him.

A letter
I came back to my house about 7:00 of the evening. So my younger son asked me "Did you check our mail post of the first floor. (Our house is in six floor.)

Outing season
Today, it was a nice day. So we went to a park of transportation. Recently my older son is very busy. I wanted to go out with my family.

My younger son is 8 years old. He said he is not a baby every day. But today, he wanted to get on this yellow small Shinkansen.
Maybe this time might be the last run for him. A few years later he will not want to get on it, even if I want.

I want to throw away staff. There are a lot of staff at home. It is difficult to keep them at home.

Bag Lunch
I continue working for a long years. I am busy especially "morning". When my older son went to school and elementary school, he had pre-school-provided lunch. But now he goes to junior high school, he needs bag lunch. In Japan, junior high school students are supposed to need bag lunch.
So it is hard to make bag lunch at busy morning for me. Sometimes every foods are frosted foods. I only cook rice!

I bought a new lunchbox and I read cookbooks. And I make some side dishes in the day before. I left some side dishes.

Railway Museum

My sons went to the the Railway Museum last December. They have visited this museum a lot of times. When my younger son was very young, I had to visit the museum with my sons. But my older son grew up, recently they visited the museum by themselves.

Summer is almost over in Japan.
But it is hot.
My older son is 12 years old. He had a lot of his home works of his school and played badminton everyday this summer. So he was so busy.

He started Junior high school this April.
He is coerced into joining "after school clubs".(MUST)
His after school club is badminton. Doing sports is nice for young people. But "Too much is as bad as too little".

Japanese plum
I bought Japanese plums. And I made plum liquor and plum juice this July. We need abut three months for plum liquor.
And plum juice need three weeks.
My younger son can't wait to drink plum juice.

My father took Japanese plums in his garden. And my mother used to make umesh and umeboshi.

He cut ginger and vegetables. And he mixed them with ground pork. He made 50 peaces of dumplings.

New desk 2
My older son used a desk which was my husband's. Now he is 12 years old. He start to go junior high school. So I gave my older son a new desk too. Now in small kid's room there are two new desks. They are studying and playing in their room.

We say it is a space-saving desk. Their room is very small. So we chose this type.
After they finish his work, they close his board. My friend told me it is difficult to close board. Because they clean their desks every day. LOL

Last month, we went skiing. We enjoyed it. My younger son wanted to took this lift which had happy ring. We visited this sky resort two times. But he couldn't take this lift.
Kids wanted to take this happy lift every time. He couldn't get his turn two times.

Last week, I went to a head office in Tokyo. I had to take the 7:30 train for Tokyo.
It takes about one hour to get to the office. Before I went to Tokyo, I felt so bad. And after that I felt really bad.

Which do you choose trains?
If I was in India, I can't get on train.

Skiing
When my younger son was a baby, we went to skiing. I and he watched my husband and my
older son who skied on a slope. It was too difficult to carry his buggy on snow.

Next day, my younger son had fever. So we shouldn't had gone to skiing with the baby.

Anyway, my younger son has a lot of experiences since he was young.

When my older son was a baby, we didn't go anywhere. we were afraid of be made ill.

But second baby was tough. And we think everything easily.

Curry
We found this special Curry with rice two years ago in a ski resort. I thought it was so big, I couldn't eat it.
Last Sunday we ate it. It had a lot of calorie.

By the way, my younger son mixes curry and rice, when he eat it. He likes well-blended.
He requests to serve rice thinly and to cover curry on the rice. And he mixes before eating.
This taste is different of mine. Actually I don't like mix curry and rice before eating.
I know it is same ting in our stomach.

Plums blossom in my uncle's garden. It is Spring.

first spring storm

My uncle gave me Narcissus's picture. Flowers are beautiful.
Today, we have a first spring storm in Tokyo. It is February yet. When I was young, it came in March. February was Winter. Winter should be cold. I think it is global heating.

I suffer from hay fever. I have to buy box of tissues.

Challengers
We are doing fine. We are OK! We feel happy!
I'm sorry for skipping my blog.

My older son studied for exams last month. My older son challenged an entrance examinationa. We were so busy. Unfortunately he was rejected.

He was 12 years old. He must continue studying all the time in high school, university....

I know being good at studies are not everything for kids. But it is important to study for kids in Japan.

So it is difficult to live in the world. When I watch TVnews, I am depressed. I don't want to watch TV news. Every day they said losing people's job, the issue of subprime,wars, ....

It is very bad mood.

President Obama said we can change the world!
I want to change my life a little.

SUSHI
My younger son likes SUSHI. He especially tuna.
My older son can't eat raw fish. My older son accepted my younger son's feeling.

Calligraphy
My younger son tried to write kakizome.
Kakizome is the first calligraphy writing of the New Year. It was my sons' homework of winter holidays.
They did it January 2. I felt so tired.

Now, schools are starting. They took their arts to their school.

New Year dishes called OSECHI
My mother made a lot of new year dishes. My mother prepared OSECHI before New Year's Day. It was so busy.

Now I didn't cook OSECHI. I just bought them. We can get a lot of food at the first three days of the New Year at shops. It is convenient.

When I was young, shops didn't open at the first three days of the New Year. My mother had to cook OSECH that could be kept for a long time.
Which is better ?

This holiday, my husband has job. (It is not every year.)
It is not good for my sons. The first three days of the New Year are important for Japanese. I think New Years are more important than Christmas for Japanese. But recently Japanese forget about it. Many customers like convinience.
We have to change it.

Christmas is coming
Hello! I didn’t want to write anything on my blog thease days. I was busy and I feel tired.

My younger son asks me everyday. ”When will Santa close come over to our house?”
Unfortunately this year, Christmas days are working days in Japan. I have job and my younger

Japanese Apples
I think Japanese apples are very nice. Especially apples have honey, which are so delouses.

When I was kid, I could peel apples by myself. But my older son can't do it. Now my older son has to practice to peel apples.

Tess's gyoza is so nice. Her gyoza is so beautiful.
But my gyoza is just gyoza. Because my sons want to eat a lot of gyoza. I make 50 gyoza.
Every time I see Tess's gyoza, I want to make wrappers by myself. But I don't have any time.

Happy Halloween
Last year, our neighbor invited us his house. He made lanterns. He said this kind of pumpkin was not for food. I think lanterns was threw away in the USA now.

By the way, this year almost has been finished. I am depressed about something. Now, the stock market is crashing. The Yen is strong. Prices are going up. So it is difficult to raise kids in Japan.
Ten years ago, I was not worried about anything. Every time I was happy. I get older and older, my worry is increasing.

Strained back
When I did the laundry tonight, I strained back.
It is bad. I just strained my back by doing a bucket lifting at work.
Oh. my god..
I don't know if I can go to my office this Monday. I can't have a day off this week. Because I have a important meeting. So I have to make documents.

When my younger son was six month, I strained back. My husband was so busy. My older son was 5 years old. My father was died 7 months ago. And my mother was sick. It was a so bad situation.

Anyway this time was better than that. My sons grew up!

Pear picking
Yesterday, we went to pears park nearby my house.
There were lot of pears field in my town. My town was famous pears production. But now pears field became building land.

I have been thinking, I go to pick pears with my kids. Because I used to go picking pear with my family.

Tess said they look like apples. When I was kid, I think so.

Five Years ago, I had a European Pear at first time. And I brought back to memory.
When I was a kindergarten age, my mother read "Pinocchio" to me. Pinocchio ate a European Pear. I thought it's shape was different of Japanese pears. Pinocchio ate skins and cores.
I thought European Pears were ate skins and cores.
And someday I wanted to eat them.
